Legacy of Life: Nova Scotia Organ and Tissue Donation Program’s Advisory Council is made up of individuals and organizations with an interest in organ and tissue donation, including:
The Advisory Council advises the Department of Health on issues related to organ and tissue donation. As a provincial program of the Department of Health, its role is to improve patient care by developing standards and guidelines, recommending service delivery models, educating health care professionals and monitoring performance.
The council has developed a strategic plan and evaluation plan for 2006-2009. The strategic plan includes reviewing the legislative framework for organ and tissue donation, educating the public and health care professionals, and monitoring compliance with the Human Tissue Gift Act.
